The Role

The Lead Treasury Data Analyst is responsible for optimising the organisation’s funding and hedging activities through strong analytical capability. The role supports Treasury decision‑making by combining market insight, structured finance execution, and advanced data analysis to minimise funding costs, manage interest rate risk, and enable sustainable balance‑sheet growth.

This position has a strong quantitative and technical focus and works collaboratively across the business, maintaining accountability for analysis‑led execution and decision support.

The role plays a key part in driving cash‑flow efficiency, funding optimisation, interest margin stability, and overall balance‑sheet resilience. It ensures Treasury execution is underpinned by high‑quality data, robust analytical practices, and market‑informed insight.

This is a hybrid role, working two office days per week in our Cardiff office.

Key Accountabilities

  • Work with large financial datasets to analyse portfolio metrics, funding costs, and present insights clearly.
  • Develop automated analytical tools and data pipelines to support real‑time Treasury decisions.
  • Conduct scenario, sensitivity, and optimisation analysis to inform execution timing and structure.

2. Funding & Capital Markets Execution

  • Support the execution of structured funding transactions, including warehouse facilities, forward‑flow agreements, and securitisations.
  • Analyse funding economics, advance rates, pricing structures, and covenant impacts.
  • Prepare analytical packs for funders, rating agencies, and internal approval forums.
  • Maintain and improve execution models used for funding allocation and optimisation.

3. Interest Rate Risk & Hedging

  • Support the design and execution of interest rate hedging strategies.
  • Analyse hedge requirements based on asset and liability profiles.
  • Monitor hedge performance and post‑trade outcomes.

4. Market & Balance Sheet Insight

  • Monitor market conditions, interest rate movements, and funding spreads.
  • Translate market developments into actionable recommendations for funding and hedging.
  • Provide ad‑hoc strategic analysis for senior Treasury stakeholders.

5. Stakeholder & Counterparty Engagement

  • Engage directly with funding partners, banks, and hedging counterparties.
  • Work collaboratively with ALM, Risk, and Treasury Operations to ensure alignment with risk appetite and governance frameworks.

Essential Criteria

  • Experience using coding or scripting for data analysis (e.g., SQL, Python).
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and modelling skills.
  • Proven experience handling large financial datasets.
  • Ability to translate complex analysis into clear execution recommendations.
  • Advanced Excel capability.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience supporting securitisation or capital markets transactions.
  • Understanding of funding structures and cashflow‑based finance.
