Overview

A leading mechanical and electrical building services contractor with decades of experience across major public‑sector and commercial projects is seeking a Health & Safety Manager to oversee and enhance its safety strategy across South Wales. This organisation works on large‑scale, technically demanding installations including mechanical services, electrical engineering, plant and control systems, energy‑efficient systems, district heating, and healthcare/education projects. Prior experience in building services, M&E contracting, or complex construction environments is essential.

The Role

You will lead the company’s Health & Safety function, working closely with directors and senior management to implement best‑practice safety standards across multiple sites. You will set and maintain safety strategy, coordinate compliance, manage advisors, and ensure consistent safety performance on all live projects.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead the health & safety strategy across multiple M&E and building services projects

* Manage Health & Safety Advisors and oversee site safety performance

* Develop and review policies, procedures, and safe systems of work

* Conduct high‑level audits, inspections, and compliance assessments

* Provide guidance to senior management and project teams

* Lead incident investigations and drive improvement actions

* Promote a positive safety culture and continuous improvement

* Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies

Requirements

* Significant experience as a Health & Safety Manager or Senior Advisor within building services, M&E contracting, or complex construction

* Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical building services environments, such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, plantrooms, industrial/commercial buildings, hospitals, schools, or specialist installations

* NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent (preferred)

* Strong leadership and communication skills

* Ability to influence, advise and mentor teams across multiple sites

* Full UK driving licence
