Vet needed for 12 Month FTC in Cardiff
My client is seeking a dedicated Veterinary Surgeon to join their friendly and supportive team in Cardiff on a 12-month maternity cover contract. This is a full-time role offering a salary of up to £50,000 depending on experience, with a strong emphasis on fostering a Just Culture and creating a workplace where everyone feels valued, respected and supported.
They operate across three small animal branches in the Cardiff area, with a shared rota that includes consulting, surgical and inpatient responsibilities. While a local out-of-hours provider handles emergency calls overnight, inpatients remain on site with nursing care to ensure continuity and reduce unnecessary movement for unwell animals.
As a modern, well-equipped first-opinion practice, everything you’d expect to deliver excellent clinical care is available.
This full-time position is based on a four-day working week (40 hours), with a 1-in-5 Saturday rota, no out-of-hours commitment and no Bank Holiday working. Consultations are set at 20 minutes as standard, and protected admin time is built into the working day. You’ll enjoy genuine clinical freedom with support always available when needed, and a balanced mix of consulting, operating and inpatient work across the week.
The team you’ll be joining is large, welcoming and wellbeing-focused, with around 20 vets and 19 nurses including multiple certificate holders.
The practice takes pride in prioritising colleague support, development and wellbeing. Career satisfaction and progression truly matter here.
The role comes with an excellent benefits package, including up to £50,000 salary depending on experience, 6.6 weeks paid holiday including Bank Holidays, £1,750 CPD allowance, paid RCVS membership plus two other professional subscriptions, VDS cover, enhanced family-related leave, discounted veterinary fees and a wide range of wellbeing and lifestyle perks. Additional benefits include sick pay, funded training, colleague engagement initiatives, annual pay reviews, cycle-to-work scheme and clear opportunities for career progression.
If you’re looking to work with a team that genuinely values its people, encourages professional growth and champions a positive, supportive culture, look no further!
