Portering Team Lead
Spire Cardiff Hospital is looking for an experienced and motivated Portering Team Lead to join our dedicated Facilities team. This role is essential in helping us deliver the highest standards of patient care and ensuring our hospital runs smoothly, safely and efficiently.
About the Role
As a Portering Team Lead, you will provide vital support across the hospital, including the safe movement of patients, equipment and supplies. You will work leading a close-knit team, covering a range of shifts.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- To be responsible for the maintenance of staff rotas, ensuring that an adequate level of cover is implemented to ensure the smooth running of the general portering services within the hospital at all times.
- To assist in the training off new members of staff, ensuring that they are made aware of the company policies and procedures for portering services within the hospital and general hospital and personnel policies are adhered to.
- To effectively communicate with the Hospitality Manager any incidents or requirements arising in the Portering Services area to ensure that any potential problem areas are brought to note and resolved as early as possible.
- To assist and direct patients and visitors to areas around the hospital as required in a welcoming and courteous but professional manner.
- To assist Ward Reception staff as necessary with the transportation of patients baggage to and from the Main Reception and Ward areas.
- To escort patients between departments as directed by medical personnel.
- To transport to the relevant site Pathology samples as directed by medical personnel.
- To assist in the removal of furniture, equipment and fittings around the hospital as required.
- To assist in the maintenance of security of the hospital and its grounds.
- 7.18 A flexible working approach is essential and a personal and co-operative attitude should be maintained at all times.
Who we're looking for:
- Experience of working as a Porter
- Experience of leading and/or supervising a team
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Excellent customer care skills
- Ability to work without supervision
- Caring and sympathetic
- Be flexible in your approach to work and working hours
- Due to the physical demands of the role, including moving equipment and assisting with patient transport, you will need to be able to perform these essential duties safely
- Full and Valid Drivers license
