Environmental Advisor
Abatec is assisting their client, a well-established civil engineering and water contractor to recruit a permanent Environmental Advisor, supporting a portfolio of essential infrastructure projects across South Wales. With a strong pipeline of work and a clear focus on sustainable delivery, the organisation is looking to strengthen its environmental team. This position will play a key role in supporting operational teams and maintaining high environmental standards across multiple sites. This is an excellent opportunity to be involved in complex, large-scale projects while contributing to wider sustainability and carbon reduction objectives. The successful candidate will provide day-to-day environmental guidance to both site and project teams, ensuring all activities are carried out in line with current legislation, industry standards, and best practice. The role will involve a combination of site and office-based duties, supporting both live works and pre-construction phases. As Environmental Advisor you will:
- Provide environmental support across project delivery teams
- Carry out site inspections, audits, and compliance checks
- Assist with the development and implementation of environmental management plans
- Support the management of permits, licences, and consents
- Investigate environmental incidents and produce reports with corrective actions
- Advise on environmental risk and mitigation strategies
- Contribute to carbon reduction initiatives and sustainability targets
- Liaise with regulators, clients, and other external stakeholders
- Support audit processes and maintain compliance with ISO 14001 standards
- Input into tenders and pre-construction planning where required
- Degree or equivalent in an environmental or related discipline
- Previous experience in a similar environmental role within construction, utilities, or infrastructure
- Working knowledge of UK environmental legislation and compliance frameworks
- Familiarity with environmental management systems, ideally ISO 14001
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Effective communicator with confidence engaging site teams and stakeholders
- Full UK driving licence
- £40,000 - £50,000 p/a
