ALN Teaching Assistant for Early Years
Looking to bring your energy, creativity and Early Years magic into a fantastic school this summer? If you're an experienced or qualified Early Years Practitioner ready for a full-time role in Cardiff for the Summer Term 2026 — we’d love to hear from you! We’re working with a truly lovely primary school in Fairwater, Cardiff, who are on the lookout for an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join their Early Years Foundation Stage team. You’ll be spending your days in the Nursery/Reception class, getting stuck into everything from messy play and storytelling to supporting little learners as they grow in confidence and curiosity. This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same. The school is looking for someone who’s proactive, caring and full of ideas — someone who can jump into activities, spark imagination, and support children who may need a little extra help navigating their emotions. With around 28% of pupils having Additional Learning Needs (ALN), experience in this area would be a big bonus. Think patience, empathy, and knowing how to turn tricky moments into positive ones! Creativity is absolutely key here — this is not a “stand at the side” kind of role. It’s about getting involved, building relationships, and making a real difference every single day. The school itself? A brilliant place to be. Rated GOOD by Estyn, it’s known for its supportive leadership, welcoming staff, and polite, eager-to-learn pupils. It’s the kind of environment where you’ll feel valued from day one. If you’ve got at least 3 months’ experience working with children or hold a relevant Nursery Nurse/TA qualification, and you’re ready to commit to a full-time role (Mon–Fri, 8:30–15:30) from April through to July — this could be the perfect fit. Apply now with your up-to-date CV, and if successful, Emma Thomas will be in touch to guide you through the next steps. The registration process is quick and straightforward (usually wrapped up within a week, depending on DBS and EWC). All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date. Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ this may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants. We offer all our registered candidates FREE child protection and prevent duty training. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided. For details of our privacy policy, please visit the Teaching Personnel website
