As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, counsellors, and other professionals to develop and implement tailored strategies that address the unique needs of each student.

Your role will involve monitoring student behaviour, providing one-on-one or small-group intervention, and collaborating with the wider school community to promote positive change.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing and implementing behaviour management strategies for individual students or groups
  • Providing one-on-one or small-group support to students struggling with behavioural, emotional, or social challenges
  • Collaborating with teachers, counsellors, and other professionals to ensure a consistent and holistic approach to student support
  • Maintaining detailed records and documentation to monitor student progress and inform future interventions
  • Promoting a positive and inclusive school culture that fosters respect, empathy, and responsibility

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Relevant degree or professional qualification in a related field (e.g. , education, psychology, social work)
  • Proven experience working with children or young people in a behaviour support or similar role
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and engage effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities
  • Thorough understanding of child and adolescent development, as well as the factors that can impact behaviour and wellbeing
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and a desire to stay up-to-date with best practices in the field
